  1. This might help you justify the expense John as a trial - http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/
  2. Personally, if it was a condition of your gun licence that "random checks on the security of your weapons may be done", then that's fine by me. Anything else and I might not be so fine Realistically, the amount of guns owned in the US compared to shootings can't be all that bad, but it's only the big ones that make the news. Half the problem isn't the weapon - it's the person firing it
  3. G-VNEW, Virgin Atlantic's first 787-9, overhead Portlaoise on a wonderful day https://www.flickr.com/photos/111752039@N08/15307847079/
  4. I never cared anyway Joe! I come as is, if they don't like it, ah well!
  5. The best shot I have ever got of me Erm, you can probably tell that I prefer being behind the lens!
  6. Kinloss Rescue were covering radio, with Rescue 125 in communication with 2x F-15's around the area. Pilot taken by helicopter back to Lakenheath
  7. There's me, walking towards the camera http://www.thewandererphotos.com/RailtoursPreservedRailways/2014/IRRS-Special-to-Waterford/i-gd4mLHc/A Don't worry, I got the photographer back later......
  8. DM is still around Nigel, over on the Classic British Flight Sim forum, so you could ask him. I think he did reply at one point about FSX and time, so a search would be better first
  9. The only thing that dates DM's VC-10 is no VC. The 1-11 is still excellent!
  10. Great shots Alan! My grandfather worked on the coast guns at Gibraltar and had a trip up in a Shack. Even had a go. Problem was, when turning, no-one told him to use the rudder......
  11. And least you did actually remember John - remember our esteemed leader?
  12. I wouldn't say 'without accident' - some of mine were a bit dangerous!
  13. Saw one of the Irish Aer Corps AW-139's circling around the Four Courts earlier - the courts are about 3/4 mile from college, so get them quite regularly
  14. I just followed everyone else (becuase I forgot to load the flightplan!). The navigator didn't want to fly when I said who we were flying with..... Superb video Mikael - an excellent afternoon's flying and well captured. Some of those incidents were a tad close!
  15. Nigel - they were all A350's. Flight here - http://www.flightradar24.com/2014-09-29/08:36/48x/CARBON1/4729048
  16. Big bump! XR219, the first and only TSR-2 to fly, took its first flight today 50 years ago. The great white hope became a great white failure. XR220 and XR222 are still with us, thankfully XR220 at Cosford - https://www.flickr.com/photos/111752039@N08/14561483009/in/set-72157645942886735 XR222 at Duxford - https://www.flickr.com/photos/111752039@N08/11607809913/in/set-72157639120273046
  17. Agreed Dai. The three books by Kevin Wilson, "Bomber Boys", "Men of Air" and "Journey's End" describe what the crews did, with several references to the 21 VC's given to Bomber Command crews. Dresden, held up by many as the worst act of the bomber war was not ordered by Harris, but Portal and above. Whilst Churchill gave his idea away, Portal and Harris stuck by it. And if Dresden was bad, what about Hiroshima and Tokyo, by supposedly precision bombers? Harris wanted the public to know exactly what the Command was doing but the War Cabinet didn't. There is a lot about the bomber war that t
