  1. I use TalkTalk for the phoneline and broadband, but my email address is an older one from elsewhere. I do not appear to have suffered any ill effects, although I am keeping an eye out for anything that looks "dodgy"
  2. Based on the OOMs I have suffered in FSX and P3D in the past, I can only assume that my i5 4690k (and the i5 2500k before it) were somehow emulating HT
  3. Is HT on by default with CPUs? If so, which CPUs have it? I have an i5 4690k.
  4. Is Scotflight not already compatible with P3D v3, Joe? I didn't have any problems installing it, although I haven't tested it extensively yet.
  5. I have to be honest here and say that FSUIPC is a bit of a mystery to me. I was told by someone a long time ago that I needed it, so I installed (the unregistered version) without ever really knowing what it was supposed to do! I have always used the default axis and button assignments for my joystick, so I don't need it for the controller. However, I think it may be useful for linking my aircraft's position between P3D and Airport Design Editor. That is certainly useful when I want to accurately position scenery objects, or properly align runway centrelines.
  6. Cosford 2014 was my first ever flightsim show, and I loved every minute of it. That being the case, a return trip to Cosford 2015 was a no brainer. I arrived on Friday, and stayed overnight in a local Premier Travel Inn. My evening meal last year was a solo affair, but this year I had the pleasure of dining with three other flightsimmers (Kevin Firth, Ben Weston from Airline2Sim, and his friend Dan). This was a very enjoyable experience, and I was particularly pleased to note that Ben was already aware of my status as a UK2000 beta tester! We all had plenty to talk about, and it was nice to ge
  7. I absolutely agree with you, Richard. I do not compromise scenery and autogen complexity on my PC, which is why I know how hard ES Guernsey can test it! It is probably the hardest hitting scenery package that I use in P3D (including ES Isle of Man, ES Shawbury Fields, and VFR London X). I run P3D v3 with a LOD radius of 4.5, although I may increase that to 5.5 when I start testing the VAS management.
  8. The real XH558 may be retiring shortly, but the AI version will continue to fly in P3D on my PC
  9. Richard, ES Guernsey is a heavy hitter on framerates if you have maximum scenery and autogen density enabled. Can you tell me what LOD radius you are using? It's also worth noting that setting the framerate limiter to UNLIMITED will actually get you increased framerate performance in very dense scenery areas, although there would probably be an increased chance of "stutters".
  10. Adrian, What is the low speed stability of the aircraft like (for example) on landing approaches? That is generally the area of the flight envelope that interests me the most I am glad that you are enjoying it. I haven't actually done any flying since the show, because I have a problem with the joystick controller assignments in P3D v3 (all of my planes yaw significantly to the right during the take off roll). It appears that a fair number of P3D v3 customers are suffering from the same problem
  11. Bowness-on-Windermere tomorrow, eh? I could get there very easily with my camcorder if I knew what time she was due to arrive...
  12. There is a sneak peak of me talking to a guy called John next to the Airline2Sim stand at 2:50. I was talking to him for 15-20 minutes as we waited for the doors to open at 10 AM, and I bumped into him several times during the day. A nice guy to talk to, and I was able to help him with a couple of issues he was experiencing.
  13. I'm gonna need to do summat flightsim related long before then, Adrian. I don't think I can take the pain of waiting another 361 days for Cosford 2016
  14. I met Pete Dowson at Cosford 2015 when I introduced myself to an AVSIM member by the name of Ray Proudfoot. Ray is a member of NWFSG, and he is apparently intending to haul his PC to the show next year and show off the FS Labs Concorde in action.
  15. Mikael, I must apologise for not actually recognising you at the show. I guess the "stu" part of your username, and the wig in your avatar make excellent disguises!
  16. If there are any actual "license conditions", Lockheed Martin don't seem to do a very good job of enforcing them.
  17. A detailed version of Bruntingthorpe is in development at ACG, but it will probably take some time to build.
  18. Matt, Do you have a decent cooler for that i5 4690k? I have a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO on my i5 4690k, and it runs @ 4.6Ghz overclocked. I think that max temperature I have seen is about 72C, which is slightly higher than I would like, but still OK. You certainly have nothing to worry about at 56C!
  19. That was quite funny. I was talking to Martyn about whether I should get the Majestic Q400 Professional or the JustFlight Tornado GR1, and eventually I decided on the Q400 (partly because I had got to know Ben from Airline2Sim over the weekend, and also because I saw this as a golden opportunity to finally learn how to fly one of these things properly). However, I also told Martyn that I had got the Canberra PR9 as a freebie in the goody bag, and he muttered something about everyone being given his stuff for free!
  20. Some guy even said that Mutley's Hangar was a bit like the home of the gods! I think that Joe was somewhat lost for words when he heard that!
  21. I was bowled over by my experience at the show last year, and this one was even better! Lovely to meet you all again, and a big thanks to everyone for making it such a great day!
  22. Looking forward to meeting you and your wife again tomorrow, Adrian
  23. Purchased v3 last night, and installed it (plus the SDK) this morning. I now have all of my graphics and other settings sorted out, joystick controls configured, and all of my UK and Ireland photoscenery enabled in the Scenery Menu. I haven't done any flying yet, but everything appears to be working fine so far. I was going to wait and see some reports from other flightsimmers, but a couple of OOMs last night in v2.4 whilst flying around London basically made the decision for me! I am really looking forward to finding out just how impressive the new VAS management system really is...
  24. I may purchase it tomorrow, but I will probably not install it until after the weekend. I don't want anything to upset my anticipation of Cosford 2015, and that would surely be the case if something went wrong!
