  1. Nice one, Bro'! Not seen the Foxbat since the Horizon forums, times have changed, eh? I'll be with you anon, so don't rush the grog... BTW, why'd you go back when you ran into trouble? Forget the thermos?!? Cheers - Dai.
  2. An unenviable task, Kasper, but creditably accomplished! Cheers - Dai.
  3. Hi Rick and welcome to the Hangar. I'm not sure, but I would think that the texture giving the G500's bezel its grey color will be in a folder - somewhere! - and, therefore, available for editing. If none of the other gurus on the forum can find it for you, we can delve into the vaults... Cheers - Dai.
  4. The best just wasn't good enough, was it. D&V's approach to photoscenery was unmatched. It's a great shame that their efforts have come to this. All we can do is wish them well and hope we hear from them again, soon. Hwyl - Dai.
  5. Reminds me of the phrase: "If you can't fix it - feature it!" But, by golly, those guys were lucky - especially at the end, landing on that ridge with a last second twist into a tree, just before it landed. Cool throughout, too! Thanks for sharing, Nigel! Cheers - Dai.
  6. Good catch, Al'! Loved the '9 Deadly Selfies', too! Cheers - Dai.
  7. Thanks, Joe - so I really did fly that with you all? My memory is almost a blank, everything was a blur! Good Luck Kasper. Cheers - Dai.
  8. Be careful whose leg you're grabbing, Micke! I can help out with Leg 4 Sumburgh to Flesland, if you like? Cheers - Dai.
  9. I'l help with the speling, Nigel! Good story - encore. Cheers - Dai.
  10. Donald, here's a review completed late last year of a small lap-top configured for FSX: http://www.mutleyshangar.com/reviews/dai/tm/tm.htm As long as the lap-top's CPU/GPU combo is fast enough, in this case i5/860M, you'll have no worries with FSX unless you're flying PMDG through Rex4 over very complex autogen scenery. Using a 2nd screen is a must, as the lap-top's own screen is really too small for serious simming - the lap-top under review was aimed at 'simming on the move'. This 2nd screen will give you the option of running flight planning/GPS/alternatve views (i.e. instruments) on the
  11. +1 on the 'bounce', Nigel. I gasped when I saw the video - did 'he' really mean to do that? Little point in over-stressing the air-frame and gear at a time when you're not 100% certain how it's going to react. But then, maybe 'he' is from the Gung-Ho School?!? Cheers - Dai.
  12. +1 on the 64-bit version, Nigel. And +1 on Dean's (dean33) view, too. Academic means 'student' - just like Old Age Pensioner means someone who has retired (like me). So, I don't agree with you, Christopher, regardless of whether you feel that if you don't get caught, then it's O.K. LM clearly want the professional version to be just that, but as far as their Sim-Director is concerned, I understand they have some ways to go, yet. Just my tuppence-worth - nothing personal, as usual (sniping mode = Off!) Cheers - Dai.
  13. Nice video, Jeroen - do you work with the design team as well as make these vids? Very impressive - but no credits at end of video!! And commiserations on the passing of your Dad. Cheers - Dai.
  14. Matt, anything is possible - here's a video of my Secret Island Mission: By the way, the volcanic eruption is optional... Cheers -Dai.
  15. Oops - thanks for the correction! Cheers - Dai.
  16. Going 'cruisin' in you new hat, Al'? Take it easy, Mate! We get 2 or 3 of these b*gg*rs over us most days. Nice engine note, except when they're turning at Machynlleth fo another circuit. Have a good one! Cheers - Dai.
  17. It appears that Pet Dowson has made some adjustments to FSUIPC for Steam: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/78258-fsuipc-4938-available-now-for-fsx-steam-edition/ You may have to go to Pete's support forum for more details. SimConnect is another matter... Cheers - Dai.
  18. Welcome Home, Ed! Nice to hear from you. As Brian says, we're still as friendly! Trust your Mum is good! Cheers - Dai.
  19. This, from the press release: Isn't Acceleration an update from Gold? Seem to remember an extra box (thanks, Joe!)....Anyways, caveat emptor - My next sim is probably X-Plane! Cheers - Dai.
  20. Couple of questions: 1. Is FSX SE (Steam Edition) full blown FSXA (Acceleration) or just FSX SP2? 2. Will the 'great unwashed', who flocked to the 'beta' testing of Microsoft FLIGHT, be attracted to FSX SE? 3. Should we start an Aunty Steam sub-forum, now, to pick up all those conflict queries that are in the offing? Gosh - haven't we got enough alternatives, Chaps? FS9, FSX Retail, FSX SP2, FSXA, P3D V1.x, P3D V2.x, etc... Oh, and X-Plane, too, which has better helicopter flight dynamics - byeeeee! Seriously, we are in for an exciting 2015 - Happy New Year! Cheers - Dai.
  21. Nigel, in the video, there's mention that the scenery is "... not autogen..." Is that the case? If so, how do you 'tune' the scenery's complexity to match your system's processing power (i.e. get reasonable framerates)? Now, like you, I think this product looks brilliant - is ther any chance of seeing actual FSX video capture rather than replaying a pre-recorded flight? That't be good - thanks. Oh, and thanks for sharing. Cheers - Dai.
  22. Hi Trevor and welcome to the madhouse! Like some, I've used OpenCockpits kit (for a self built helicopter cyclic/collective) and it was very straightforward. One of our members, Jack, is an uber-expert with O.C. kit - search the forum, and reviews, for his contributions. Jack can also advise when he has time - he's just started uni, so he may be busy! Anyway, lots of luck. Cheers - Dai.
  23. Their strategy implies that developers will produce add-ons which the majority of subscribers want. Sounds very democratic. Not sure if this fits the sim world's demographic. Will be interesting to see how it develops. Thanks for the link, Kevin. Cheers - Dai.
