Good stuff! Like that DC-6 and the weather looked fun as well.

Thanks for all the positive comments!

Thanks Jess. And we're off on leg 20. Baton in hand I make my way over to the hangar to find a familiar figure - my colleague for this leg of the ATWC - tapping away at her lips, staring thoughtfully at a Dassault Rafale that I distinctly do not remember being there when I left to meet Jess. The plan had been to take a slow, leisurely tour of Japan, flying over Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo on our way to Sapporo city but Sharon, it seems, has other ideas: a Rafale is a touch too fast for all that and does not seat two, at least not this one. I'm tempted to ask how and where she acquired this partic

Liked it. Great shots and Lenore is looking just beautiful.

With looks like that one can forgive a little inefficiency. Beautiful aircraft, that. Great leg.
-
I like it.

Great story and shots. Nice to see some bad weather flying.

As the prize for the screenshot contest win I chose the Mitsubishi Zero. Since that aircraft needs no introduction, I thought I'd try something different. So here it is; old enemies flying together. (Ignore the PC-9. That was my camera ship. Silly pilot wanted his fifteen seconds of fame I guess. ) And from a different angle. (The static propeller on the Bearcat is a FS Recorder issue on my PC. Sorry about that. )

That aircraft looks futuristic, even today. I would go so far as to wonder whether, if you put it on static displays at an airshow, people would guess that the design is close to sixty years old. I reckon it would still turn heads. Great shots.

That's the one, Dai. Didn't mean for it to be tricky, though.

Well, since this seems to be a tough one, I'll give the state. The airport is somewhere in Alaska, somewhere pointy.

I found an article about this: http://www.flyinglions.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=38&Itemid=29

First time! Wow. That's a darn sight better than I can do, and that's after playing Dirt 3 for ages. You are a rally driver without peer, Joe!
-
Clue 4: The Inuit name of the nearby city means "forefinger," alluding to the geography of the place, which protrudes into the sea. The first Europeans to sight this cape were Russian.
-
Clue 3: The airport is in the northern hemisphere and nearly as far away as you can be from Greenwich.

Great shots. That bit about the 'big Yak' reminded me of a bit of stand-up comedy by Brian Regan; will try to find a link to it... Ah! got it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkot_vljBJU Wait for the bit about the 'dead Yak.' Although the dead Yak wouldn't be a problem in the An-124: could probably fit a couple of them in the bins.

Clue number two: A place to lift your spirits.

Finished Sept = 3 Is The Magic Number!

Thank you for the congratulations. I used FS Recorder. The shot was taken from one of the Merlin's exterior cameras, just moved about a bit. -
Thanks Dai. The aircraft is a clue-ish.

Second part of the shots I took. SAAF Augusta A109. SAAF Hawk. I was lucky enough to get two other aircraft in shot, a Hawk and Gripen going at it in a mock dogfight. An SAAF Gripen. This was the best shot I could come up as all the SAAF aircraft were constantly swamped by people hanging over the railings. I'm always amazed by how small this aircraft looks in real life; when you stand close to it it is tiny. Former SAAF Atlas Impala. From the front. Quest Kodiak. And next to it... And I'm not sure what this is. Thought it was a Cessna 208, but must be a newer one as they

I went to AAD 2012 at Waterkloof AFB today and thought I'd share some of the pics I took. Apologies for poor quality and camera work; I was using my cellphone. The UK MOD had a stand, and I thought the British hangarians might enjoy seeing it. The US also had one, a big and bold one, but it was swamped with people and I couldn't manage a shot. This is something I'd never seen before. This is what it is. Another shot. A Denel UAV, as well as some their missile designs. A Cessna with a very pretty paint scheme, belonging to a conservation group. A Harvard. A Piaggio P.166.
