  1. Saw this in a magazine a few years ago - apparently the display included a farmer shooting the bird down!
  2. Superb PIREP there John - fascinating and took some time with those formation shots!
  3. Nice flight there Brett - are you just a magnet for trouble or what? First low fuel, then soldiers!
  4. Hi Dean and welcome to the forum! As this section is currently full, you can't bid for any legs unless a spare pilot is required. But here is the order you have to do. All you have to do is e-mail atwc@mutleyshangar.com with your leg choice and, if needed, aircraft choice. Here was my e-mail for this section: If you want one of the banners (as in my signiture), just give the same e-mail address an e-mail with your forum name, real name and country. If that wasn't useful and compressed, this topic will give you a hand. And of course, have fun! Regards, Kieran
  5. May 1 1982 - Operation Black Buck 1, the mission from Ascension Island to the Falklands to put the runway out of action, finished up after 16 hours in XM607, supported by 11 Victors. At the time, it was the longest operation in history. Martin Withers (captain of XM607) said he'd never been airbourne in a Vulcan with as little fuel as after the Falklands
  6. April 30th In 1893, Roy Chadwick, designer of the Manchester, Lancaster, Lincoln and Vulcan amongst others, was born. In 1959, Convair B-36J-1-CF Peacemaker, serial number 52-2220, landed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, completing the very last flight ever made by one of the giant Cold War-era bombers. It is on the collection of the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
  7. Personally (and you can't really speak otherwise), I've had no problems with Just Flight/Trains or Flying Stations. When I did the review of the Sea Fury, I was struggling to find source photos of the cockpit in 'navy condition'. Skippy happily gave me a link to which some of the source photos were sourced. The FlightSim Store also has been helpful, referring me to a developer for assistance.
  8. Superb PIREP there Mikael - great to see another large aircraft only just making it in!
  9. Probably a fast shutter speed. It doesn't need to be that fast to stop the props like that. For example, I've a photo of a Lancaster taxiing around at East Kirkby with the props completely still at a shutter speed of 1/800th, using a point-and-shoot camera
  10. Great shots and story there Richard - quite like the old Soviet aircraft myself. The Bear wasn't too bad.......
  11. Wonder what message the Russians are sending to the BBC, according to the tail?
  12. There was a fighter version proposed but that too never got into production. I posted this aircraft quite a while ago, and Alan found a FS2004 model of it
  13. Not quite today, but two shots from the 18/4/14 and two from all the way back in 2005 Photos start here
  14. Nice story there Jess - and great shots too!
  15. Did the same yesterday, missing a Il-76 that would have crossed well within sight
  16. On this day 49 years ago (April 6, 1965), the BAC TSR-2 was axed by Harold Wilson's Labour government in favour of the General Dynamics F-111. TSR.2 was the last significant attempt by the UK to single handedly design and develop a top tier military aircraft.
  17. FSX Nigel - someone released a patch for the FS2004 Samdin one. It's on Flightsim.com Cheers folks for the feedback!
  18. Somre recent ones from today and Tuesday. Irish Aer Corps 206 is currently circling around https://www.flickr.com/photos/111752039@N08/13604779004/in/set-72157642167159115
  19. What a place. Twinned with Jinan in China, Palm Desert in the US and Townsville in Oz, this place with a population of 307,000 and an average temperture of 31 degrees Celsius in March, it's quite different with from Portlaoise. There, it rains and rains and rains, and the temperature is rarely in double figures. It also has no airport, but does have a railway, unlike this place. Port Moresby was where I had to be, to meet a Welshman with the infamous baton. Sitting in the local hotel, reading about signalling systems and Traffic Management Systems, the phone buzzes and disturbs the humid p
  20. Yep - all for running a team. Should squeeze in nicely between orals and written exams
